Your power out?

First off, I'm very sorry if it is. Secondly invest in solar!! Although not at the land living yet due to a little more building needing and one last occupancy permit, our "camping" experience is enhanced so much with solar power. This is a picture of our portable garage we have set up to stay away from the bugs and enjoy a meal.

We are Universal Naturalists.

Here is some information on our beliefs. This of course is only some of it but I hope you enjoy and agree.

Universal Naturalists are founded on the main principal that everyone has the right to believe what ever they want to believe. Leaving a minimal footprint on our mother earth is a large portion of our belief as well. In all ways possible we will live off the land, with non conventional ways to harness items such as, but not limited to, water, food and power.

We believe in the bill of rights.

We belive in a day of rest or "Sabbath" if you will. No more than six days of work and at least one day of rest is required for the healing of the body. When ever possible on this day it will be spent with family, friends and anyone willing to break bread with you and yours. As long as the gathering is pure no mention of any god is needed as your heart and soul are what matter in the end and how you treat one another.

Respect and honor for not only your mother and father but for all life forms.

Only commit harm in self defense, never be the first to strike in anger with all life forms.

Live off the land as much as possibly. Wasting as little as possible at all times, the smaller your footprint on mother earth the better.

Never speak false testimony of any life form.

Never steal.

To be accepted into the nobel path of enlightenment we believe that one must first have felt suffering. Suffering can be defined as pain, heart ache, tragedy ect. No minimum or maximum amount is needed, mearly the understanding of life and suffering so that one has come to the point of seeking a true path.

The path is broken into three groups and are as follows...

Moral;

Right speech Right action Right livelihood

Concentration;

Right effort Right mindfulness Right concentration

Wisdom;

Right view Right intention

Although no path is the same, the path of wisdom is needed to compete all others. Without the right views and right intention your path would not be for true enlightenment and could lead to a path unwanted.

Little update....

Been very sick again but finally had some energy last weekend to get some things done. We are on our way to getting set up and in a couple weeks. Here are some updates pictures.

Huge issues have come up with building on the land. It seems the old code enforcement officer was fine with everything we were planning on doing but the new one is not. So we have got citations and possible fines for starting what we were told is fine....

It is ok though we keep on swimming.

We shall be setting up a kickstarter soon to help get things rolling so keep your eyes open as big things are going to happen!

We are working on our out door shower and setting up our kitchen as well. We hoe to have tons of visitors to "camp out" with and enjoy life.

Day 13; 5-9-2014

I'm still very sick and my wife is in the hospital with pancreatitis. However my Step-Father came out with the excavator and got a great deal done while I took some pictures. Also bought a plow truck for the land as well.

O and normally I dont plug things, but this cleaning wipes are amazing and I feel they need to be plugged. Pictures are very dark, however they where covered in sap and they took it all off with little effort!

Our home

Sorry for not posting sooner but I have pneumonia and my wife is in the hospital with pancreatitis. Things have been hectic and draining. However I did get a chance today to pay the final payment on our home and get some pictures. I can not say anything but good words about the two Amish friends at Backyard Builders in Maine. They completed the build in about 9 days and it looks amazing. The small "trap" door was beyond my expectations. We plan on possibly using this in the winter for the composting toilet and during the summer as an easy access for the dogs.  All depends on how far along we get with all the other projects we need to complete by winter.  In hopes to have the house on the land next week and that all depends on how much gravel we can get moved around this weekend..... when I say we I mean my step dad because I really can't do anything other than sit and tell him what I need lol.

Day 6 - 12ish; 4-27-2014

   Alright, I am sorry I have missed a few days but the land does not have internet access and power is not set up yet.  However we have made some huge improvements to the land and at this point simply need for the heavy loads limited signs to come down so we can really get to work leveling and preparing.

We have done a great deal of clearing and all and all I think we have done some good work. Here is the dog fence area we have started.  Right now it is only 150 square feet but we shall be adding to it as the months pass on.  This is the first time we have ever been able to put the "boys," Mario and Luigi, outside without them getting loose, (side note, they escaped about three times before we found all the weak spots.)  They are so much happier being able to run around without getting tangled on each other or trees. It is taking us a 6 ft high fenced in area to stop them from jumping out.  We have been using the layout of the land to maintain the posts and it is working well.

I know I posted a picture of the camper with our nice log poles holding up the tarp overhead, so I wanted to show a little more of what we did for that.  The area in which the camper is sitting has so many rocks that it was impossible to dig nice holes for poles.  So I had this awesome idea… Why not use stumps to hold the poles? This is where I started to have a great deal of fun playing with a chainsaw. Kids don’t try this at home… I started off by finding nice big stumps and cutting slits right in the center all the way down with the chainsaw in the form of a square.

After cutting the outer “square” I then made some diagonals to help break it all up.  In order to really clear the hole out I went back through with the hatchet to break things up and remove pieces.

With the chainsaws that I have I don't really care how good you are, it is nearly impossible to make a perfect fit.  So to counteract that, we took some rocks and mud and pounded them into place to keep the post straight.

Alright so what happens after you create something pretty awesome with a chainsaw that is really useful? Yup you guessed it more fun projects…

The seat in the close up was the last of the seats I made and by far the best.  The first one I made was for my buddy James and well it is sub-par at best, however it sits fine after a few adult beverages.  James, Jenn and I also spent some time making a really nice fire pit from the slate rocks we have found on the property.  We have even made a few meals off from it, and I must say a meal cooked over a fire beats any oven, any day of the week.

The kids have been having a blast and the baby seems to get tuckered out pretty quickly out there.  Our list of friends helping us on this journey keeps growing and we welcome many more to help as well.  Although we don’t have money to pay for labor we seem to know a great deal of people willing to help out today for a little help for them tomorrow and we enjoy that philosophy.  I shall close with a few pictures of Elliona and Gavin.

Day 5; 4-20-2014

Awesome day today. Combined with yesterday we have made some progress. Limited internet so just a quick post. Missed a picture of the dog fence area but I will get that tomorrow. Here are a few pictures. I used a chainsaw to make holes in the stumps for the posts, that was a blast. Tomorrow we shall be working until about noon so more to come!
Happy Easter!
